Birthday Verse for Eight Decades

October 15, 2020 by Bill McNulty

What do we rhyme to celebrate eighty years?
It would right to raise a glass and say cheers.
We have learned history and seen history made.
Favorite songs and all the music we have played.
So many roads that we have traveled and crossed.
So many friends and dear family that we have lost.
Favorite TV shows that are no longer on the air.
Baby Boomers and all those generations we share.
Children and all the joys that come with being a parent.
Hopefully they get all the love and pride we have sent.
Granddaughters with smiles that always melt your heart.
Working with volunteers that inspire you to do your part.
Paper and pencil now so many tech programs in your hand.
How I wish all those advancements, I could really understand.
Favorite teams and the championships they have won.
Achy knees, bad back, but every day enjoy and have fun.
