Before your bare feet touch that scale,
You recite these words without fail.
Lord may all those extra pounds simply melt away.
Don’t count that cookie that I enjoyed yesterday.
Lord, can I simply promise to eat less today?
Losing weight, for that we can surely pray.
Face it Lord, my body is not what it used to be.
My pot belly is not a sight that you want to see.
Man up, step on the scale and check the weight.
No doubt it’s going to reflect everything you ate.
Lord, how do we make those calories disappear.
You are going to tell me a few less desserts, I fear.
Every morning, I check to see how many pounds.
Is this prayer as truly pathetic as it really sounds?
