Today, Stephen would have been age 52. We took the trip to Shalom Memorial Park to visit today. We were 50 yards away yesterday for the funeral of a dear friend. The two of them could have talked baseball for hours. I wrote the poem below about 3 years ago and I still believe the words tell the story. Think of someone you lost, recently, or long ago. May that thought be a comfort to you.
There are days or nights that we think of him in so many ways,
You know that you can’t go back and change the yesterdays.
A face on TV reminds you of him from long ago,
A picture that your memory will always know.
Favorite dishes that you know he loved to eat,
Nieces that you wonder how he would greet.
Baseball cards and what he would collect,
What kind of loving wife, would he select.
A dream of him, there will always be a tough pull,
For us, we accept a wonderful life that is almost full.
