Social gatherings and always a new connection to make,
A few introductions is all that is will usually take.
I am sure that I went to school with your brother.
And Susan from the old neighborhood knew your mother.
I saw your face and remembered you from the old neighborhood.
Your name I don’t recall but I truly wish that I could.
Wedding reception, we try to match names and faces.
So many faces, so many names from so many places.
And Uncle Hyman’s cousin from Skokie knows everyone.
And the niece from New York married Aunt Rose’s son.
And where ever we go, it is always the same,
Trying to remember the face to go with the name.
They gather from far and near and we will always see,
The game we play and fondly call, Jewish Geography.
