Humor Thoughts

May 26, 2026 by Bill McNulty

Some days a good laugh makes all the tension disappear.

Some days a child’s laugh is all you really need to hear.

And laughing at yourself is sometimes good medicine.

Even the thought of a laugh can bring on a healing grin.

A good joke and there’s another laugh to share.

A loud sudden laugh can give you a good scare.

That smile imagining what one is about to say

Humor in stories to chase your troubles away

Playing with words and sharing a clever pun

There’s always family humor so home spun

Humor and seeing things happen as never before

Done right, leaving everyone wanting a little more.

In Your Name

May 18, 2026 by Bill McNulty

My hope, the life we lead would make our Dad proud

Deeds we do, verses we write stand out in the crowd

Consider the name we take and the names we give

Our daily actions are a reflection of the life we live

Life teaches a good name only takes you so far

Life also says step up and show who you are

Sometimes wondering what in our history we find

Wondering what in our name will be left behind

Done in your name can bring you fame or shame

Dad’s words with me, Keep your head in the game

I Remember When…

May 11, 2026 by Bill McNulty

That movie matinee was a dollar a show

You kissed in the balcony with your beau

Pickup games playing in the nearby park

Cub Bleacher seats at Addison and Clark

Walking to school, always uphill both ways

Family gatherings plenty in those yesterdays

Cruises with family under the Caribbean sun

Playing ball and knocking in the winning run

For sure, those gas prices both now and then

Undoubtedly, you will always remember when

Fact or Fiction

May 4, 2026 by Bill McNulty

Why do some people only listen to a given voice?

Never understanding that there is more than one choice.

The mind is made up with no chance of a change.

They never hear a word you say and label you strange.

They never let the truth and facts get in the way.

They follow the leader they are sworn to obey.

A loud voice doesn’t mean that they are right.

Only that ignorance has reached a new height.

Words with an unholy purpose that is meant to deceive.

Hearing only the news that supports what they believe.

The signs are waved, and banners are unfurled.

This seems to be the headlines of this new world.

Can’t there be a voice of reason to explore both sides?

There will always be issues of value, but who decides?

My Teachers of Years Ago

April 27, 2026 by Bill McNulty

There are days a single line my teachers said

With wisdom that still resonates in my head

Part of a lesson from one day in high school

Who knew it would still be a valuable tool.

Maybe a math challenge helping me to succeed

A plot tease message from a book for me to read.

Music lessons instilled a love to sing still in my voice

A civics teacher with the steps to make a good choice.

Mirrors and Reflections

April 20, 2026 by Bill McNulty

You look in the mirror and what do you see.

On a good day, a reflection that is worry free

It’s always nice to look and see a happy smile

It’s always nice to admire a handsome profile.

And yes, your hair is thinner and much more grey

Always looking forward to the wonder of this day.

The mirror can show thinking about what to say

Others worried about the emotions they portray

You see your smiling wife standing behind you.

Your bare tush and she is still enjoying the view

Let your moody frown disappear without a trace

Now you can greet the morning with a happy face
