Tomorrow, Local Authors

April 17, 2026 by Bill McNulty

On April 18, Cook Library hosts a morning of local authors with the chance to meet and buy their books and I will be there. All of the books that I have are available for a donation. Funds at Congregation Or Shalom benefit from books sales and Alzheimer’s Research is another one that benefits from our book sales. You can just come and visit or donate for any of our books. Where you ask??? The Cook Library branch in Vernon Hills on Aspen Drive.

Music To Touch You

April 13, 2026 by Bill McNulty

Some sweet lyrics will always touch you

That song starts and you can never be blue

Lines in a song, in your mind, you set apart

You know, it will always touch your heart

Stories, unlocked in a sad country song

Touching you and can’t help but sing along

Irving Berlin Broadway tunes from long ago

Generations sing the music we all seem to know

Sing out your favorite song on a night of Karaoke

Best part, no one cares if you sing a little off key

Promises, Promises

April 6, 2026 by Bill McNulty

What does the promise for the future hold?

Mild words or pledges that are ever so bold.

A promise and the challenge to make it come true.

Can you make a promise and then see it through?

How sincere is the promise that you hear?

What will you really do in the next year?

Words and deeds are not always in the same act.

History will show when a promise becomes a fact.

To have a clear conscience when you lay down to sleep.

Please make promises that you can always keep.

I Got Nothing

March 30, 2026 by Bill McNulty

Sometimes that mind of mine draws a total blank

Trying but drawing nothing from that memory bank

Maybe some nothing ideas enable you to think

They do their job and disappear in a quick wink

Some nothings should be totally barred.

Nothing wrong with a look and go discard

Now those creative ideas start to take wing

From nothing and now you have something.

Always A Need For Hope

March 23, 2026 by Bill McNulty

There’s always hope in waking to a new day.

Hope, that feeling you always want to stay.

Hopes and dreams can work when they become a plan.

Hope into reality, when you give it everything you can.

Fans always hope for a 7th inning rally and score.

Hope with that acceptance that you need more.

Sometimes, we need hope when there really is none.

The need for hope should simply reside in everyone.

We want hope when no one should try or dare.

Hope should exist in every Shabbat prayer.

Hope and optimism should always have an active role.

Please, let there be a loving positive hope in every soul.
