Making a Difference

May 8, 2015 by Bill McNulty

I have a GREAT appreciation for volunteers.  Whatever time you can give
to make your world a better place, go for it.

                                    Making a Difference

If you lend your skill or time to help in the neighborhood,
If you add your time to aid others as you know you should,
If you combine your efforts with others to build a community,
If you always raise your hand to volunteer in our society,
When you say you want to help, whatever your preference,
There is no doubt you are capable of making a difference.
When you get down to help a child, you are standing tall,
When you help those in need, your efforts are never small.
Regardless of age, there is always room for another volunteer,
Raise your hand to help for an hour, a week or another year.
Your reward may be a thank you or smile that touches your heart,
Consider the effort you extend, know that you have done your part.

Dreams of What Could Be

May 1, 2015 by Bill McNulty

For dreamers everywhere, may your dreams give you peace and
the dreams you work for, come to be.

                             Dreams of What Could Be

Have you ever laid in bed and dreamed of what could be,
Have you ever dreamed of all the places you would like to see?
Have you ever dreamed of all the things you want to say.
Have you ever dreamed of all the sports you wanted to play.
Have you ever dreamed how you could enjoy a fresh spring.
Have you ever dreamed of a special song you want to sing.
Have you ever dreamed of a great karaoke performance?
Have you ever dreamed of holding your girl in a slow dance?
Have you ever dreamed of winning the Mega millions lottery?
Have you ever dreamed that those you love, could be worry free?
Have you ever dreamed of a bakery with so many pies to choose?
And then you dream of all the weight you would have to lose.
Dreams can become nightmares which appear so dark
Dreams can inspire and offer a creative spark.
Have you ever dreamed of a dreamless sleep?
Truly at peace with only good memories to keep

For Maya

April 25, 2015 by Bill McNulty

Often, I write about granddaughters.  All of mine are special.  This week was
Maya’s birthday.

                                      Maya

This sweet girl is growing and reaching new heights.
Family travel or outings or stay home for movie nights.
Becoming such a delightful, sassy young woman.
Stop and watch, you KNOW she is not done.
Those eyes just sparkle when a new comment is coming.
Done with charm and guile that on Maya is so becoming.
At home in the kitchen with a dinner to prepare,
Working with her sisters, tasty aromas in the air.
Her total focus to reach and achieve
It’s something you must see to believe.
For this girl, there is always a new surprise to spring.
For me, I can’t wait to see what next year can bring.

A Taste of Chocolate

April 17, 2015 by Bill McNulty

A Taste of Chocolate

Can I take a taste, just one small bite,
Or will I eat all the chocolate in sight.
It makes no difference if its’ dark or white,
All I want is one little chocolate bite.
I can walk away from that sweet smell,
I’m not really under a chocolate spell.
No chocolate cake or ice cream for me,
I can pass on it all, you well see.
Well, perhaps, just maybe a wee sample will do,
Just to make it all right, I’ll give you a bite, too.
No, wait, I am stronger than all that.
Please take away all that chocolate.
Hi, my name is Bill, and I am a chocoholic.
Make that malt chocolate and very thick.

Who is a Poet?

April 10, 2015 by Bill McNulty

Who is a Poet?

So what makes you think that you can make words rhyme?
Do word endings really have to sound alike all the time?
Should there be a message with meaning to share?
Sharing deep feelings can leave your soul bare.
Who would find your verses have some appeal?
Can I tell a story and make it sound real?
My ego says I can do it all and much more.
Or you can decide this poet is a real bore.

Another poem to post

A Tribute to Granddaughters

Surrounded by granddaughters all with a comment to make,
It’s disgraceful how much abuse this grandfather must take.
Each one beautiful and totally gorgeous
Til they say something totally outrageous.
Their eyes shine with a mischievous spark.
When they about to share a sarcastic remark.
No one can deny their beauty and charm.
Could that set off a grandfather’s alarm?
Their love and affection is always on display.
No matter what they say, they make Grandpa’s day.
