Which Road to Take

May 29, 2015 by Bill McNulty

Which Road to Take

The roads that we travel and the choices that we make,
Done again, would we consider a new path to take?
Would I say “yes” when it should be no?
Would I stand up when I should lay low?
Do you follow the traditional map or look for new ground?
Should I be a pioneer where new opportunities abound?
Would past efforts offer a different insight?
Does a vision appear and now you see the light?
If only I had worked and prepared last night.
Making sure this time around, I get it right.

Our Flag

May 24, 2015 by Bill McNulty

I posted this one year ago.  It is time to share again.

Our country, not perfect, is still a remarkable place to live.  My thanks to all who have served and continue to serve.

Our Flag

You salute the flag and what does it mean?
I wonder if I really understood as a young teen.
Can you see the freedom that we call the American Way?
Can you feel the history that brought us to this day?
War and Tragedy around the world and our troops went.
There are so many tales of bravery of the past and present.
The nightly news reports of other countries’ bloodshed.
Children now are orphans and so many soldiers dead.
Our Forces help us maintain this land of freedom.
For this generation and all the generations to come.
Know that America is special based on all that you have seen.
Stand up, salute the flag, and really know what it does mean.

You Heard What?

May 22, 2015 by Bill McNulty

You Heard What?

Stories repeated often enough, soon become fact.
You know how rumors are spread without any tact.
Your neighbors said what, about who?
It’s no wonder they are going to sue.
The guys at coffee are sure they heard it right.
The ladies are spreading the news day and night.
My sister in law’s cousin knows them very well.
You know that it’s really a secret and I cannot tell.
My in laws just called and they just love to share.
When they start gossiping, they are quite the pair.
Once the story is repeated, it tends to stick like glue.
It would really help, if all the news we hear is true.

Learning Never Ends

May 16, 2015 by Bill McNulty

Learning Never Ends

For all my young friends and students, I am here to say,
Schools ends, but learning will teach you every day.
Always have some curiosity to see what happens next.
Always have some wonder to see meaning in every text.
Cherish the teacher that challenges you to perform at your best.
Be ready for homework to prepare you for every single test.
At every age, there will be something new to learn.
Having something new to read, will always be your concern.
Discover a talent that you can love to share.
For life’s journey, school can help you prepare.
The road that you travel will be yours to decide.
My wish for you all, is prepare well to enjoy the ride

Is Life Always Fair?

May 15, 2015 by Bill McNulty

 Is Life Always Fair?

We are not always treated fair, as we travel along.
No doubt, at times, we have all been treated wrong.
Find someone to blame or move on down the road.
On your own or find someone to help carry the load.
You can lock yourself away, never to face another day.
Or you can go on display, YES, you are here to stay.
What’s your release, you must find a way to cope.
Work to recover and show a smile full of hope.
Write your thoughts and don’t be afraid to share.
You may be surprised at how much people do care.
Gather your thoughts as you take a nature walk.
Find a friend who can listen when you need to talk.
Creative expression to learn what’s in your mind.
You may be amazed at what strength you will find.

Mother’s Day

May 9, 2015 by Bill McNulty

My Love to all mothers. You are special. May your loved ones treat you well on your day.

Mother’s Day

Second Sunday in May, Mother’s Day, we celebrate.
Time to say, Mom, Mother, you are really GREAT.
Every day, you prepare all of our meals.
All the time, you shop for all the deals.
You tend to the biggest hurt and the little boo boo.
Is it any wonder that the children turn to you know who.
The underwear is clean and the shirts are spotless.
And in the home, you wipe up every single mess.
The mother’s love is there without question.
She always knows how to get your attention.
For the mothers of today and those of our past.
Done right, that is a love that will always last.
