San Jose Road Trip

July 30, 2015 by Bill McNulty

              San Jose Road Trip

So the family stories that we will be relating
Touch that Garmin ladies voice “recalculating.”
We all use the latest and greatest GPS
So the next road we take is not labeled best guess.
You watch the traffic and listen for her voice.
Deciding which exit you take is the wise choice.
Sometimes that lane we are in is beyond our control.
No sharp turns or you are going to hit the lamp pole.!!!
Now you hear stay right and exit at A 18.
As the light fades, that sign is nowhere to be seen.

Maxine

July 22, 2015 by Bill McNulty

Last week, we lost our friend, Maxine.  I wrote this for her birthday
this year.  She was a special lady in so many ways.

For Maxine

Sweet Maxine, always there to welcome and greet you,
That warm smile and sincere interest to meet you.
Here we are with another Birthday to celebrate,
For any event, always there to help and collaborate.
Off to the lodge for another card game to play.
Out to lunch with the ladies on any given day.
Generous, spiritual, learned are some of her traits.
Perhaps, now you know with us, she really rates
All the nice things, we all say are a happy refrain.
This is my salute the Grand Lady of Sheridan Lane.

A Place to Dream

July 17, 2015 by Bill McNulty

              A Place to Dream

Should you be fortunate to have a place to meditate,
You would have good reason to stop and celebrate.
Many never enjoy that serene inner peace.
For them, trouble and worry never cease.
For some, it’s sunset over a slow moving stream.
There, it’s easy to sit and think and dream.
For some, it’s the wonderful ability to close their eyes.
They can picture dreams coming true in a bright sunrise.
Some find peace among the trees in a spring forest.
Being out in nature helps them be at their best.
Would we all thrive as a human race?
If we could meditate in that special place?

Remind Me Why I Love You

July 10, 2015 by Bill McNulty

Remind me Why I Love You

Could it be because of all your charm and wit?
Could it be your banana muffins which are always a hit?
Could it be all your determination and grit?
Would it be your love for me which you do admit?
Could it be when I volunteer you always do your bit?
Maybe it’s your laugh, when I get the 7 – 10 split?
Possibly it’s that you  let me watch TV and just sit.
How about that puzzled look when I try and get fit.
After all these years, I must certainly give you credit.
For on a daily basis, you put up with all my S_ _ T.

One Last Hug

July 2, 2015 by Bill McNulty

One Last Hug

What would you do for one last hug?
Certainly one that would give your heart a tug
And if you knew it would be the last warm embrace,
Could you handle it with dignity and good grace?
Do we ever know which breathe will be our last?
Every day and every night seem to disappear so fast.
Cherish and love the times that we share.
Always, always, show that you truly care.

Children of our Children

June 27, 2015 by Bill McNulty

Children of our Children

The children of our children live on to tell their own story.
They represent the future that may not be ours to see.
The gifted talent that you helped create and guide,
Will create new wonders that have never been tried.
From parent to children to the next generation,
There should always be time for another celebration.
Make quality family time to travel and share.
Make memories for them to share with those in their care.
Treasure all those special moments and then make some more.
You never know when they will be needed more than ever before.
