That Word

November 21, 2022 by Bill McNulty

Sometimes, when I don’t know what else to do, I write. With so many headlines, they are willed with hate driven actions. When will it stop.

This verse won’t make hate disappear into thin air.

Perhaps my words are written feeling a little despair.

Some people are just so vicious and filled with hate.

Filled with one sided thinking and not open to debate.

Some use irrational platforms no one understands.

Targeting minorities, promoting hate across our lands.

Actions traveling on a one-way road called destruction.

In talking about progress, they will be a total obstruction.

The gains and acceptance we seek in the world today,

Will never be ours until we cease the hate of yesterday.
