Normally, at this time of October, I would be promoting our community Craft Show. I always have a table to promote our books of poems. Proceeds from all book sales go to either the Stephen McNulty Fund at Or Shalom or Alzheimer’s Research. Some books were created for Steve’s fund and others were for Alzheimer’s Research. With Covid limitations, this year’s show will be neighborhood only. Those in our Grand Dominion Community, we will have a table at the lodge, Friday, Oct. 8. For everyone else, we appreciate those that have donated for books and we always have more books of poems to share. Drop me a note.

Name That Verse
Poem titles should have meaning to get you to read.
Never sure about some titles, that I must concede.
I add a new title to each verse that I post.
See the blog on the website that I host.
Label that verse “poetry in motion”
Another one could reflect devotion.
A tribute to a fallen friend that you want to share
You look for a title to make everyone read and care.
Politics, sports, many should be easy to name.
My ego always hope one title could claim fame.
A poem title with meaning and you take another look.
A great title and you have no choice but to buy a book.
Some lines have more meaning than the title will ever show.
Then there are lines with meaning that only the poet will know.
Hand in Hand Through the Years
Sometimes, it’s not something that you really planned.
It’s a warm connection when you’re holding her hand.
A young boy holding his girl’s hand when they walk.
Strolling hand in hand with never the need to talk.
Hands held, young love walking down the street.
Slightly swinging arms, almost keeping the beat.
Bride and groom, exchanging wedding bands
Ready to walk through life holding hands.
Holding your grandchild’s hand that’s so small,
Helping them along and praying they never fall.
With love and comfort, that everyone understands,
Every year, loving couples walk and just hold hands.
A Note To Share
For those that have missed my poem ( or two ) of the week, we have had some tech issues which my friend and designer, Steve Leventhal, of this site has cleared up. Lately, it has been fun looking at poems created some years ago, updating and posting. Look for more. I am working on another book of poems in a new format. Should you have suggestions about verses, you think I should create, drop me a note.
No Poetry
There is no poetry in the violence we witness today.
Consider all the power in the words that we can say.
Careful thought should always be in your advice.
Striving always to encourage others to play nice.
Who wants to see lives lost on the news tonight.
If only the Golden Rule is there, it would be alright.
A young life is lost, and a grieving mother is in tears.
Bringing into reality our concerns and worst fears.
Accepting that, at times, there is no other choice.
I encourage all to reach out with a gentle voice.
Offer a sincere handshake and not a fist.
If not, another friend will surely be missed.
Problems and solutions, ours to work with resolve.
A way for us all to meet halfway, ours to solve.
The Road To Recovery
Four weeks plus since hip replacement. Doing OK on the recovery and regaining strength and mobility. Slow but sure progress.
What’s your pain level, rate it one to ten.
Give them a number and what then?
These post op readings on what to expect just confuses.
The road to recovery is filled with bumps and bruises.
A little pain when you move the wrong way.
A little ache may be here for a long stay.
Physical therapy, lay down, get some ice.
The effort to rehab, ready to pay the price.
A doctor to see and another test to take.
When will it be better when you awake?
Getting better, there’s never time to rest.
The road to recovery, it’s slow at best.
