Chicago weather forecast, a moving target at best.
Always observing the winds coming from the west.
Partly sunny, partly cloudy, what’s the call today?
Can’t you feel the rain clouds moving this way?
Out the window, I see the skies turning grey.
So what does the latest model forecast say?
Which model forecast will be correct?
What does your weather radar detect?
Rain or snow, always a few degrees apart.
Weather forecast, a science that can be an art.
Remember, if you have a schedule to arrange,
Chicago weather is always subject to change.
Memorial Day repost
For the last four years, I have posted this on Memorial Day. If you have those dear to you serving , I hope they are safe. For all those that serve or have served, thank you.
Memorial Day, are there lost friends to fondly remember?
Someone special who was an Armed Forces member.
We honor our lost soldiers with parades and songs,
They journeyed the world to battle evil and wrongs.
Do we value the freedom we have because of those that serve.
They faced foreign elements with courage and nerve.
Sometimes we wonder what will history say,
About the wars and conflicts we fought today.
We cover many a coffin with red, white and blue,
Trying to honor fallen heroes with their due.
We never take for granted the rights and freedoms we enjoy,
Those freedoms are ours, because of many a soldier girl or boy.
Where Does the Time Go, Part 2
I think that I remember when I was trim and fit.
Now my tummy leans over my belt when I sit.
Which dessert to enjoy is now which pill to take.
What does not ache is the question when I awake.
Playing baseball has become watching the game.
The guy from school, don’t you know his name?
That full head of hair is now thinning and grey.
Arthritic knees, Advil to make it through the day.
Hearing and listening are not always the same.
So easy to repeat when I have to take the blame.
As there are always more medical advice to seek.
What physicians do we have to see this week.?
Anniversary Poem
Fifty five years ago, Susan became my wife.
There is no way she couldn’t be in my life.
Tears of joy and some sadness to share along the way.
Wedding posts to share make it seem like yesterday.
The generations before us gave us lessons to learn.
The generations that follow us are now our concern.
Sometimes, to make the other laugh, you play the clown.
Always there for the other, when a hurt takes one down.
Pulling for the home team, reading and always dining out,
Movies to watch, trips to take, it’s the life we are all about.
Children and grandchildren, there are always stories to tell.
Fifty five years later, there is still much love in this magic spell.
Where Does the Time Go?
The children that were once a gleam in their parent’s eye,
Now have their own children with their dreams in the sky.
Months become a year and years become a decade.
And memories of our younger days begin to fade.
Black and white photos, now color in this digital age.
Our history and travels should never leave a blank page.
All the old lessons learned with chalk and the blackboard,
Now done with the best computers that we can afford.
Do you remember the days of dancing to a live band?
Telephones and toll calls, to cell phones in your hand.
So many family and dear friends that we knew,
We have had to bid a fond and tearful adieu
So many features that our parents would think strange.
We have learned to accept in this constant era of change.
Speed Limit Only a Suggestion
So as you travel the highways working through congestion,
Can we assume that local speed limit is only a suggestion?
You drive the speed limit and stay in your lane.
Other drivers give you the look, you’re not sane.
And the cars speed by, late, never a doubt.
Of course, there are no patrol cars about.
We hit the highways for any holiday getaway.
Are the speed limits there for us to obey?
Stay out of the left lane, if you drive too slow.
Are there really Rules of the Road, we should know.?
