Every week I try to post a new poem. I have recycled some that I wrote years ago. The comments that I receive in postings or when I see anyone always touch me. I am working on more verses to share. In the last few years, many have said that I used to write or compose or be creative and I just don’t have the time to use that talent any more. MAKE the time.!!!! You will be rewarded.
Cars of our Dreams
Sometimes we picture a favorite car from years ago.
The horsepower, colors and features we still know.
It could have been a Dodge or a Chevrolet.
Better yet, a red Corvette Stingray.
Who didn’t love to show off a new car?
With the right wheels, you became a star.
Even today, the cars of decades ago still have appeal.
We look and wonder it those old feelings are still real.
Some of those memories have started to fade.
But not that old back seat, where I first got laid.
Baseball Cards
I think that you all will have to concede,
Baseball card collectors are a rare breed.
Looking for a Mantle card that’s one of a kind.
It’s a special treasure that you hope to find.
Looking for bonus cards that are not mainstream?
Always looking for players from your home team.
Looking for rookies headed to the Hall of Fame.
Looking for record setters as they play the game.
There are always baseball cards to trade,
Before the players stats start to fade.
Years later, all the cards now sit in the basement.
At one point in your life, they did have their moment.
Thoughts into Poems
A thought for a poem because of someone you met.
You scribble a quick note so you won’t forget.
Notes on scrap paper become a poem.
Keep on writing until you bring it home.
You have the thought, now work on words that rhyme.
Amazing what you can write at Starbucks during coffee time.
Questions without answers are always in your mind.
Sometimes there are no words which leaves you in a bind.
Something you see, the lines run through your head.
Write them down, do it again, until they are ready to be read.
Sharing words for friends and family is a total delight.
So many positives make the poems so easy to write.
In all of us, there is that creative spark.
Find yours and make your own mark.
The Meaning of Prayer
We say a prayer and what does it mean?
Do we expect instant results in any scene?
Are we looking for someone else to carry our load?
Are we looking for shelter and warmth from the cold?
We say a prayer and what is our hope?
Are we looking for more ways to cope?
Do we pray for some way to understand,
The news of more problems in our land.
Do we pray for the ability to face our fear?
And how about good health for those we hold dear.
May prayer always give you the comfort you seek.
And may you find peace as you end your Shabbat week.
Baseball Stats and Rumors
Pick a team and the true fan knows their stats.
How many hits and homers and how many at bats?
Who scores the game winning runs per game?
What players are headed for the Hall of Fame?
Who has a problem hitting the curve?
Who should be on injured reserve?
Who will second guess the manager’s call?
And who will still be playing ball in the fall?
Which player rumors are really true?
What media gossip will we misconstrue?
Will the playoffs be ours in the fall?
Most of all, can our team win it all?
