I have been fortunate to benefit from volunteering over many years. There is always something new to learn. I am still learning. As I have shared what I have been writing, many have expressed an interest in buying the book. It is
now available on Amazon. Link provided below. I welcome your comments.
Thinking of You, Valentine
That line from a song and we think of our love.
The words that sing from the heavens above.
We look for the ways to share our emotion.
For the one we love, we show our devotion.
Flowers and chocolate can show how much you care.
A lovely dinner may be the perfect meal to share.
You know it is special when all the daily stress,
Will disappear with a sweet smile and soft caress.
One look and you both totally understand,
All is well, as long as we walk, hand in hand.
Complaints, Complaints
Notice how often we listen to someone complain?
How much longer can I handle this awful back pain?
Anyone voting for HIM is totally insane.
I wish that idiot driver would stay in his lane.
Golf day and all that I see is more rain.
A vote for that fool is nothing to gain.
Hear that stupid song with that foolish refrain?
Notice how that small print gives us eyestrain?
Can’t you stop and try using your brain?
You just earned my total distain.
And if you tell me all these words are in vain,
This ridiculous verse just went down the drain.
The Volunteering Handbook
I am working at publishing my first book on line. With some help from some friends, it is almost ready to publish. There are poems that I have written for volunteers. I salute them. I challenge them. There are many challenges that all volunteers and volunteer leaders face. I have included thoughts and ideas that I hope all helpful.
I will keep you posted and if you have any interest, drop me a note.
Many thanks,
Bill McNulty
The World That We Live In
I really don’t know how to begin,
To comment on the world we live in.
No one is happy with the candidates of choice.
But I don’t hear anyone else stand and raise a voice.
Protesters always want the current leaders out.
But who will succeed them, they never think about.
The issues are addressed as good as could be.
But gender and color is all that many can see.
For so many, compromise is a word that can’t exist.
The old ways are best and new ideas, they all resist.
The world that we are leaving the next generation,
Will be spoiled beyond your worst imagination.
Emilie
As 2016 starts a new page,
Our freshman is coming of age.
From the Naples days of playing in the sand,
To the current times of playing in the band.
For any gift received, there is that beautiful smile.
Give her a sweater, make sure it is the latest style.
A faster pool lap is now her dream.
Working out for the school swim team.
Getting along with sister is now not so strange.
It’s fun watching her face as expressions change.
Braiding her hair to start the day.
Off to school without any delay.
Dining out to satisfy her taste.
Enjoying food, nothing goes to waste.
Getting older in such a beautiful way.
We all wish Emilie a VERY Happy Birthday.
