Old Friends

May 19, 2025 by Bill McNulty

Time may pass, but valued friendships should not.

Warm feelings for old friends means you care a lot.

A big smile when an old friend comes through the door.

There always seems to be new adventures to explore.

Short visits you always want to last longer.

Bonds of friendship always grow stronger.

Confidences and secrets shared with never a doubt.

Time disappears with always something to talk about.

Regardless of distance, those friends only seem a step away.

Cherished friendships still there when we are old and gray.

Do We Listen?

May 12, 2025 by Bill McNulty

We listen but what do we really hear?

Concern, worry, perhaps a little fear.

That need to always share not feeling well.

The need to share what the future may tell.

Pay attention, that’s what wisdom always says.

And if you pay attention to detail, wisdom stays

Sometimes, in a voice, you hear that sorrow,

Wondering what will happen tomorrow.

Our job is to listen to the words that they say.

Done right, you can really make their day.

Remembering Mom

May 10, 2025 by Bill McNulty

Sometimes, I still hear her gentle voice.

Memories for which I can still rejoice.

I close my eyes and can see her face.

No kinder smile in the whole human race.

Words of comfort or advice, whatever her child would need.

Nothing was more important than seeing her children succeed.

Always proud having her grandchildren around.

So many family stories make up our background.

I wish Mom’s words and kindness may run through us always.

Thinking of her with so many stories and wonderful yesterdays.

A Name To Value

May 5, 2025 by Bill McNulty

A newborn is named, life’s journey begins.

Some names are destined to chalk up wins.

Family names with history to make parents proud.

Year after year, some names stand out in any crowd.

Teacher’s names from years ago that still ring in your ear.

Grandparent’s names, long gone, still cherished and dear.

Famous names in history forever locked in folklore

Those names in any sport that show they can score.

Names in the news, some are always noted with respect.

Done with sweet love, some names are destined to connect.

Some names always have game, some names are born to fame

Prayers of memory, never forgotten when they recite your name.

That Voice In Your Ear

April 28, 2025 by Bill McNulty

You wonder about that voice in your ear

A heavenly voice that only you can hear.

Real and what you need for decisions to be made.

So timely, you pray that inspiration will never fade.

Close your eyes, listen carefully to what a voice has to say.

Is it any different than when you close your eyes to pray.

Imagination or an inner voice that’s always there.

Inspiration that seems to come out of nowhere.

Maybe it’s God’s way of keeping you on the right track.

The voice with the words, I’ve always got your back.

Picture This

April 21, 2025 by Bill McNulty

There’s a black and white photo taken long ago.

Looking carefully, it’s someone I used to know.

No shirt, and is he looking so fit and trim

In my younger days, I was just like him.

Can we see a picture of how that body looks today?

A picture that should have stayed hidden in yesterday.

Look again, not one grey hair on that head.

I haven’t been that thin since the day I wed.

No wrinkles, no fat tummy, nice snapshot I see.

If you think he looks good, I will agree that it’s me.

By this time, you realize there is no picture to share.

It seems to have just disappeared into thin air.
