Think about the word games that we play.
Do you listen carefully to what people say?
Is it double talk, not meaning what they mean?
Hiding behind words that are never to be seen.
Compliments offered but never sincere.
Not even close to how they may appear.
Sarcastic barbs designed to scare,
You know the intent is never fair.
Insulting from their head to their toes,
Respect and dignity missing in their prose.
Running for office, what will they promise?
If I don’t listen, is there anything that I will miss?
No Fun Being Sick
Nose stuffed up, head begins to ache.
The question, what medicine to take.
Sleepy, tired, don’t feel like going out.
Getting the Flu without any doubt.
Hot tea with honey, that ‘ll do the trick.
It always works when you’re getting sick.
Or you can try honey in your herbal tea.
Now is that the best cure, we will see.
Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.
Don’t spread all your nasty germs, please.
Chicken soup, your mother always knows best.
To get well, take your meds and get some rest.
A Note to Share
For all those who have just joined my blog, my thanks. I hope you enjoy the poems that we post. For all those who have followed me since the beginning, my appreciation for your loyalty.
For all those in the Mundelein area, this Sat, Oct. 13, I will be at the Craft Fair that our Grand Dominion community hosts. All of our books will keep my company until I willingly part with them for a donation to Alzheimer’s or Steve’s fund at our temple.

Taking Care
When the doctor says your heart is still beating strong,
Do your best to make sure nothing can go wrong.
Each morning, ready to go at sunrise,
Start the day with stretch and exercise.
A healthy diet, we all know would be best.
Enough sleep and naps, making sure to rest.
All these steps for a healthy life style,
Extra effort needed to go that last mile.
To life and living, so they say.
To good health and living, so we pray.
Second Chance
Another time around.
How does that sound?
Another chance to do it again.
So what will you do then?
Given the chance to back up and replay,
Are you ready for what you now say?
Another chance to make a friend,
Make a connection that will never end.
Sing and rehearse into the night,
Perform it again until you get it right.
And when it comes to love and lasting romance,
Perhaps the young lady will give you a second chance.
We welcome another chance to succeed.
Second chance, something we often need.
Comfort
Comfort, we take it, where we find it.
Down times, never know when they hit.
And when you suffer with a dark day,
How do you make the tension go away?
Sometimes we play that special music,
Often repeating lines in a soothing lyric.
Sometimes, it can be a warm hug from a friend.
With all the support that he or she can lend.
Sometimes, it’s a Sabbath prayer that you hear.
That helps your worst possible fears disappear.
For some, it may be a sip of wine at sunset,
Noting all the problems that you want to forget.
Even when none of it, is our call,
We look for ways to handle it all.
