This poem is not perfect but most solutions to problems are not perfect. Today, I think of John McCain and making an effort. I think of Stephen, our son, who would have been 53 tomorrow. I think of the endless violence that hits the news day and night. I wish for comfort for those who have lost a dear one to violence. May we soon find resolution and make our world a safer place to live.
There is no poetry in the violence we witness today.
Consider all the power in the words that we can say.
Careful thought should always be in your advice.
Striving always to encourage others to play nice.
Who wants to see lives lost the on the news tonight.
If only the Golden Rule is there, it would be alright.
A young life lost and a grieving mother is in tears.
Bringing into reality our concerns and worst fears.
Accepting that, at times, there is no other choice,
I encourage all to first reach out with a gentle voice.
Offer a sincere handshake and not a fist
If not, another friend will surely be missed.
Problems and solutions, ours to work with resolve.
A path for us all to meet half way, ours to go solve.
