You watch the young folks on the swinging dance floor.
Remember those dance steps you don’t have any more.
Dancing to Chuck Berry’s Johnny Be Goode.
Love to still be swinging, if only I still could.
Jitterbug or the twist or maybe the stroll.
I sure do miss the Elvis days of Rock N Roll.
Tune after tune, they dance to music always upbeat.
I am worn out watching and I’m still sitting in my seat.
So if you find a Johnny Mathis love song to play.
My wife and I can dance, like we did many a yesterday.
Husband in Grocery Store
So your wife sent you to the grocery store,
She gave you a long list of what to shop for.
Fruits and veggies, that’s where you must start.
Only the things on her list go in the shopping cart.
Take advantage of the weekly two for one sale.
Check the bakery bread, nothing should be stale.
So many shopping challenges to be met.
Which brand she likes, you can’t forget.
Which coupons they take, she knows for sure.
Just do it right and a happy wife, you will insure.
The Pictures of Our Life
Amazing to see all the pictures that we take,
Amazing to see all the comments that we make.
She looks just like you with her hands on her hips,
And that wonderful pout on her almost smiling lips.
The show off father with all the new pictures to see,
And all of us remembering, is that how we used to be.
There are pictures of long ago, now on Facebook.
There are more that I had no idea that we took.
That picture of your son reminds me of you at that age,
Remember that video shot of you performing on stage?
Many pictures of action or me taking a short nap.
Be sure to hide the one of the blonde on my lap.
No matter how many pictures that we can find,
They can never replace the pictures in your mind.
What Did He Say?
The TV ads that many would like to totally disappear,
Promotions and commercials we never want to hear.
The political mudslinging that we can all do without.
We never know what the real issues are all about.
Are they Republican or are they Democrat?
I never know who is for this and who is for that.
Just how hideous has the opponent been?
How bad will it be, if those guys should win?
And if you are listening to any politician’s speech,
You know they are promising beyond their reach.
Summer is Here
It’s hot, so hot, stay cool, stay cool.
In the sun too long, must be a fool.
Look around, you must find the shade.
Must have some ice cold lemonade.
Sticky shirt, it must be the sweat.
Just how hot can it really get?
We’re all waiting for that cool breeze.
Is that a breeze or just a cruel tease?
A good sun hat to wear so your brain won’t fry.
Drink with the hope your water won’t run dry.
Memories That Never Go Away
Sometimes, when you close your eyes, it’s perfectly clear,
The warm memory of her smile can still bring a tear.
The love of family was always hers to share
Always there to nurture those in her care.
You see her picture in another Facebook post.
And wonder how is everyone on the coast.
Those loving hugs are memories that never fade.
That’s the lasting impression that she always made.
Sweet, loving, wise, she was truly one of a kind.
Close your eyes, still so easy to picture in my mind.
